Edison stops Park in eight

RICHMOND - The Edison baseball team defeated Wheeling Park 8-7 in eight innings Wednesday.

Freshman Collin Scott drove in senior Alec Jones, who had doubled, with a two-out single for the game-winning run. Alec Jones had a pair of doubles and an RBI on the day, with Dylan Jones adding two singles and a pair of RBIs. Nolan Marcus and Austin Horan each had a double, a single, and drove in a run with Dylan Glasure also chipping in a double and a single. Clay Woodward had two singles as well. Horan was the winning pitcher, entering in the eighth and striking out three.

Edison (14-3) hosts East Liverpool today.

Brooke outscores Bellaire

BELLAIRE - The Brooke baseball team defeated Bellaire 12-7 Wednesday.

Heath Hildreth went the distance for the win, striking out three and walking none. Russell Schwertfeger, Hildreth, and Kelaen Welch each had two singles and two RBIs. Austin Schambach added a double and a single.

Brooke hosts Oak Glen today.

Creek loses to Warriors

CARROLLTON - The Indian Creek baseball team committed more errors than it scored runs, never a good combination, in Wednesday's 10-3 loss at Carrollton.

Alex Young took the loss. He fanned four and walked three. Jimmy Bolyog finished on the hill.

Dustin Rath singled twice and Zach Williams added a single and two RBIs for the 13-7 Redskins, who visit Bellaire today.

Panthers dispatch Potters

RAYLAND - The Buckeye Local baseball team inched closer to the .500 mark with a 7-1 victory over visiting East Liverpool Wednesday at Bill Mazeroski Field.

Eric Williams went the distance. He struck out four and walked three for the 9-10 Panthers.

Jonathan Borkoski did the most damage with a grand slam jack in the fifth inning. He also doubled earlier in the contest to total five RBIs. Austin Marshall added three stolen bases, a double and an RBI. He scored three times. Buckeye Local visits Union Local Friday.

NEW MANCHESTER - Oak Glen defeated Harrison Central by a score of 11-4 on Wednesday.

Bub Haddox led the Golden Bears with a 2-for-2 day, including a triple. Tyler Steed and Kyle Woodruff each added a double and a single.

Oak Glen improves to 10-9 and visits Brooke today.

WINTERSVILLE - The Indian Creek softball team rolled to a 10-1 victory over St. Clairsville Wednesday.

Paige Geanangel continued her impressive season, racking up nine strike outs in the circle to earn the win and adding two singles, a home run, and a pair of RBIs at the plate.

Bethany Davis blasted a home run of her own and added a single with Paige DeMattio adding three base hits and an RBI. Alexis Monroe had a single and two RBIs and Brey Mays had a double.

Crusaders beat Shenadoah

SARAHSVILLE - The Steubenville Catholic Central softball team picked up a 13-5 win over Shenandoah Wednesday.

Alex McComb struck out seven to get the win and help her own cause with a home run, three singles and four RBIs. Taylor Clark had two singles, a double and two RBIs and Ashlynne Daley had a double, single and drove in two runs as well. Micca Mirabella had two singles and an RBI, Megan Lloyd had a double and Sammi Giannamore added a single.

Central (17-3) travels to St. John today before hosting Shadyside Friday for Senior Night.

Wildcats fall to Carrollton

RICHMOND - The Edison softball team fell 6-2 to Carrollton Wednesday.

Molly McCoy continued to swing a big bat for the Wildcats with a two home run performance. Cassady Jarvis had a double and a single with Maddy Hunter and Caitlin Brenstuhl each adding a single.

Edison is at St. Clairsville today.

STEUBENVILLE - The Big Red boys tennis team blanked Indian Creek Wednesday at Belleview Park, 5-0.

Stefano Lanni defeated Shane Winland 6-3, 6-1, Michael Rosachi downed Jared Conn 6-1, 6-0 and Phil Stoutz won by forfeit.

In doubles, Mark Cole and Anthony Craig beat Justin Caniff and Fernando Prestes 6-0, 6-3, and Annie Nehrbas and Jorge Dominguez topped Caleb Smith and Brandon Hammack 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
