BRILLIANT - Wells Township officials are hoping for a Memorial Day opening of the township pool, but it will depend on whether everything will be ready in time.
That was the report received from Charles Nest, pool manager, during a recent meeting of the township trustees. He also reported the pool has held its water level all year.
Applications are being accepted for lifeguards, it was noted. Applicants must be at least 15 years old. Applications are available at the township office, 409 Prospect St., with office hours being 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. The wage is $8.50 per hour. For information, call (740) 598-9602.
In another season-related matters, trustees were told it is time to put the Dumpsters back in the park.
Officials also heard that three picnic tables are rotted and must be replaced, while some writing had been painted on the North Park shelter.
In other business:
Road Superintendent John Keyoski reported township roads are being swept, and crack sealing will be completed soon. A guardrail has been installed on Blues Run Road, and grates for Hukill Street should be in soon.
A resident said more dust control is needed on Salt Run Road during the afternoons.
- Trustee Larry Owens said Columbia Gas repaired some road damage caused by gas line repairs as soon as the company was notified.
- Plans to speak to Waste Management representatives were reported by Trustee John Cook. He wants to determine why the company's billing appears to be slightly different for each local resident.
- It was reported some repairs are needed at Oliver Cemetery.
