Spaghetti dinner To benefit relay

A spaghetti dinner to benefit the Relay for Life sponsored by the Jefferson County Unit of the American Cancer Society will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Bell Chapel United Methodist Church located on state Route 213, Steubenville.

Cost is by donation. The menu includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, dessert, coffee, tea and punch.

Sands of Time at Country Friends

The Country Friends will host the Sands of Time Saturday at the Memorial Hall located at 402 Old Police Lodge Road, Colliers.

The doors open at 6 p.m., and the dance begins at 7 p.m. Country Friends hold covered-dish dinners and open mic nights every Monday and Friday. The doors open at 4 p.m., the meal begins at 5 p.m., and open mic begins 6 p.m.

Four Seasons hold meeting

The Four Seasons Senior Citizens Association met April 17at the Serbian American Cultural Center with Norma Yoho, president, presiding.

Brian and Shawn Chrisagis entertained with songs of faith.

Co-tour directors Roberta Burnett and Edie Mitchell were introduced.

April birthdays were acknowledged.

Harry and Bernice Bain and Jenna Fazie were welcomed as guests.

Jasper Wamsley and Mary Salantino won the 50-50 drawing. Al Cellini won the free dinner. Door prize winners were Fran Wenzel, Dorothy Blankenship, Bob Anderson, Chris Gillette, Jane Barney and Rick Sklenar.

Members played cards and bingo after dinner.

The next meeting will be held May 15.

Karaoke fun night at E.S. center

The East Springfield Community Center will host a karaoke fun night with disc jockey Chelsea Matta from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday.

Admission is $2 with children age 10 and under admitted for free.

There will be refreshments available for sale.

The center is located on county Road 39 next to the East Springfield Volunteer Fire Department.

Italian festival scholarships given

The scholarship committee of the Upper Ohio Valley Italian Heritage Festival has announced the 2013 recipients of $1,000 scholarships funded through Italian festival proceeds and managed by the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley.

Local recipients are Joshua Higgins, Edison High School; Alec Buchmelter and Juliet Casinelli, Brooke High School; and Joshua Weltner and Sara Reed, Oak Glen High School.

The awards will officially be presented on July 27 during the Italian Festival in Wheeling.
