Wildcats pick up win at Park

WHEELING - The Edison softball team overcame a 3-1 deficit at Wheeling Park by scoring one in the fourth inning and two in the fifth to leave with a 4-3 victory Thursday.

The Wildcats improved to 6-4 and will head to the Ashland Invitational today and Saturday.

Mikayla Tice came on in relief of Caitlin Brenstuhl in the bottom of the fifth inning and earned the win. They combined to allow two doubles.

The teams combined for five hits, four errors and 14 walks.

Brenstuhl and Molly McCoy each collected a double and RBI for the winners.

Jets beat Big Red

MORRISTOWN - Union Local scored four times in the bottom of the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie and went on for an 8-2 victory over visiting Steubenville Big Red Tuesday.

Mytia Barker singled twice for an RBI and Tenia Barker singled and doubled for Big Red, which hosts Indian Creek Saturday at noon at Jim Wood Park.

Crusaders cruise

STEUBENVILLE - Steubenville Catholic Central cruised to a 10-0 five-inning victory Thursday at Steve Zamana Field.

The 9-1 Crusaders head to Akron to play in a tournament today and Saturday.

Megan Lloyd earned the win. Tori Knight pitched the final two innings.

Taylor Clark singled, doubled and drove in a pair for the winners. Maddy Gulan added two singles and two RBIs and Knight and Sammi Giannamore each delivered a single and two RBIs.

Ferry stops Creek

MARTINS FERRY - Tyrah King belted a home run and totaled three RBIs as Martins Ferry beat visiting Indian Creek, 10-1, Thursday.

Shaye DeLeonardis singled, doubled and added three RBIs, while also collecting the win on the mound. She fanned two and did not walk a batter.

Alexis Monroe had two singled for the Redskins, who host Brooke today.

Mohigans sweep Brooke

MORGANTOWN - Morgantown swept a doubleheader from visiting Brooke Thursday 6-1 and 8-1.

Kristen Reardon took the Game 1 loss and Katie Castellucci in Game 2.

Isabella Preston tripled in the first game.

Brette Geary singled, doubled and tripled and drive in the only run in Game 2. Taylor Simala added a single and double and Brenna Smith a single.

Heath Hildreth was a beast at the plate for Brooke. He doubled three times and singled. Russell Schwertfeger singled and doubled and Ethan Sole added a double.

Wildcats beat Bellaire

BELLAIRE - The host Big Reds scored five times in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn't enough in an 8-5 loss to Edison Wednesday.

Edison's Dylan Glasure accounted for three runs with two singles. Nolan Marcus singled twice and drove in one. Alec Jones singled and plated a pair.

The teams play each other today at Jefferson Lake State Park.
