St. Paul's luncheon on Sunday

St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 415 Adams St., Steubenville, will host its monthly soup and sandwich luncheon on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Featured soups are wedding, vegetable and bow-tie, and sandwiches include pulled pork and egg salad. Lunches include desserts, salad and drinks. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Carryouts are available by calling (740) 282-5366 before 11 a.m.

'Discover Hometown Treasures' tour

The Academy of Lifelong Learning is offering an opportunity to "Discover the Treasures of Your Hometown" tour on April 18 with the tour beginning with guests boarding the Steubenville trolley at the lower parking lot of Franciscan University of Steubenville on University Boulevard at 8:30 a.m.

First stop will be the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County's main library for a guided tour by Alan Hall, the library's director. The gruop will then proceed to Nelson's Fine Arts and Gifts on Lincoln Avenue, Steubenville, a local business with an international clientele. Lunch will follow at Froehlich's Classic Corner.

Afterward, the trolley will follow the Murals of Steubenville with step-on guide Paul Hlivko, who will give "an entertaining and informative tour of the historic, larger-than-life works of art," a spokesman said.

The group will return at 3:30 p.m. Cost of the tour is $40. The deadline for reservations is today and can be made by calling Gloria Renda at (740) 264-3565.

Brilliant Lions hosting dinner Sunday

The Brilliant Lions Club is organizing a ham dinner from noon to 2 p.m. on April 14 at the Brilliant Presbyterian Church located at Second and Main streets in Brilliant.

Adult tickets are $8 and children, $4. The menu will include ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, drinks and dessert.

Patrons can dine in or get takeout orders.

Tickets are available at the door or from any member of the club.

Night at the Races benefits derby

A Night at the Races to benefit the Wellsburg 4th of July Oil Can Derby will be held April 20 at Staffileno's on the River in Wellsburg.

Doors will open at 6 p.m., with the races to start at 7 p.m.

The cost is $10 to "buy" a horse and $100 to sponsor a race.
