County engineer releases schedule

STEUBENVILLE - Jefferson County Engineer James Branagan released the work schedule for next week for the highway department.

Ditching - Costonia-Mount Tabor Road (county Road 56) and Ross Ridge-Alikanna Road (county Road 43).

Culvert replacement - Ross Ridge-Alikanna Road.

Road closings will be announced.

UMWA Local 7690 to meet Monday

CADIZ - United Mine Workers of America Local 7690 members are to meet at 9 a.m. Monday in the Harrison Community Hospital cafeteria.

Friendship Park Board to hold meeting

SMITHFIELD - The Friendship Park Districrt Board will meet in special session at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the park office to discuss action on the lease for the racetrack.

Road work announced

Pot Rock Road in the Wellsburg area will be closed from Monday through April 15 while crews install a retaining wall there.

Rabbit Hill Road is the official detour during the project, which will be performed by Ohio-West Virginia Excavating as a subcontractor for Dominion Transmission.

The West Virginia Division of Highways also has announced minor road work to be performed next week, pending suitable weather.

In Hancock County, crews will be patching Kings Creek, Culler and Turkey Foot roads and ditching Fourth and Third avenues in Newell.

In Brooke County, crews will be patching Greens Run and McCords Hill roads and pulling shoulders and ditches along Apple Pie Ridge and McCords Hill roads.
