Patrol Sgt. Criss receives promotion

COLUMBUS - Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. Howard T. Criss, a Mingo Junction native, was promoted to the rank of lieutenant today by Colonel John Born, Patrol superintendent, during a ceremony at the Patrol's Academy.

Criss will transfer from his current assignment at the Steubenville Post to serve as commander of the Cambridge District's Criminal Patrol Unit.

Criss began his patrol career in February 1994 as a member of the 126th Academy Class. He earned his commission in July of that year and was assigned to the Cambridge Post.

In 1997, he transferred to the St. Clairsville Post. In 2001, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and transferred to the Steubenville Post to serve as an assistant post commander. As a sergeant he also served at the St. Clairsville Post.

Criss earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from West Liberty State College in 1991.

Criss also worked as a correction's office for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.
