Make food your ministry

March 24, 2013
The Herald-Star

To the editor:

Did you know that your elderly neighbor might be hungry?

This is likely not because of finances, but because of their lack of mobility and access to transportation.

Right now, 40 percent of adult children in the United States act as caregivers for their elderly parents, and they need our help.

Meals on Wheels has a waiting list and is overwhelmed by demand, so I am asking you to make food your ministry. Look outside your front door to the right or left or across the street - would your leftovers, or the excess food you likely throw out, be a welcomed gift to your neighbor?

Even a baked good or ice cream treat could go a long way in making someone's day special.

Please help those you can when you can, and if you need my help to do this for others, please call.
