WINTERSVILLE - Voters in the Indian Creek Local School District will be asked to go to the polls in May and vote "yes" for a levy for a new high school.

The school board approved a resolution at a special meeting on Tuesday to proceed with the issuance of bonds for the new high school and renovations to existing facilities.

According to Denise Todoroff, district treasurer, the bond issuance will amount to $23,500,000, with an estimated millage rate of 3.5 mills.

"The term of the bond is not to exceed 37 years," she noted.

Todoroff also detailed the estimated cost to district homeowners.

"For a home valued at $100,000, the total cost per year for the levy will amount to $107.19, breaking down to $8.93 per month," she explained. "For those homes valued at $100,000 with the Homestead Exemption, the total cost per year will be $80.39, breaking down to $6.70 per month."

The bond issue will not include a 1.45-mill operating levy, which failed in the November election.
