Center to host

breakfast brunch

A breakfast brunch in the "new building" next to the East Springfield Community Center on country Road 39 next to the East Springfield Volunteer Fire Department, will be held Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing until whenever.

The menu will include pancakes, buckwheat cakes, french toast, belgium waffles, hash browns, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, coffee, juice and tea.

Cost is by donation. Carryout will be available by calling (740) 543-3700.

Survivors, Seekers

hear reports

The Survivors and Seekers held their January monthly luncheon meeting with 11 in attendance.

Mary Pasich offered the prayer.

Reports were given by Darlene Pehanich, secretary, and Pasich, treasurer.

Continued discussion was held on ordering additional copies of "The Lost Children of the Ohio Valley," with Charlie Lash, president, to check into it.

The next meeting will be held Feb. 8 at 12:30 p.m. at Wintersville United Methodist Church.

training sessions

The Knights of Columbus Supreme Regional Program Consultant Dannie Harris will be in the Steubenville Diocese for two informational training sessions.

Harris will be scheduled at the Mingo Knights of Columbus Hall for a 7 p.m. meeting on Jan. 25. The topic will cover membership, retention, recruiting and officer training.

Guild schedules

Jan. 22 meeting

The National Trail Stitchers Chapter of the Embroidery Guild of America will meet at 7 p.m. on Jan. 22 at St. Matthew's Episcopalian Church located at 1414 Chaplin St., Wheeling.

The meeting will include discussion on tools of the trade and supplies and a show-and-tell from the Camp Stitch A-Lot retreat.

The mission of this group is to stimulate appreciation for and celebrate the heritage of embroider by advancing the highest standards of excellence in its practice through education, exhibition, preservation, collection and research, a guild spokesperson said.

New caregiver

support group set

Valerie Bush, an occupational therapist with Carriage Inn Home Care in Wintersville, is launching a caregiver support group meeting, beginning Jan. 22.

It will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Carriage Inn Home Care Office on Luray Drive, Wintersville.

"This group is for people caring for a loved one on a regular basis, who may need the additional support of others," Bush said.

Camera club

winners listed

The Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club has named the winners of the December competition.

The print winners for "Signs," the topic of the month, were Karen Tindor, first place; Anissa Wellington, second place; and Ernie D'Andrea and Andy Tindor, third place.

In the open category, the winners included Don Roberts, first place; D'Andrea, second place; and Deb Snider and Diane Bannister, third place.

The special effects winners were Bannister and Stephen Mihopulos, first place; Linda Hilty, second place; and Roberts, third place.

The slide winners for the topic "Signs" were Steve Whiting, first place; and Claudia Norris, second place. The open category winners included Norris, first place; and Whiting, second place. The special effects winners were Norris, first place; and Whiting, second place.

For the competition meeting, a covered-dish dinner was held.

There was no workshop meeting in December.

The club usually meets at 7 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Two Ridges Presbyterian Church hall located off state Route 43, Wintersville.
