William Pearce

PEARCE, William L., 80, of Steubenville, died Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Carriage Inn. He was born October 10, 1932, in Hopedale, OH, the son of the late George and Mabel Thomas Pearce; his sister, Mary Lou Queen, nephew, Johnny Queen and great-grandaughter, Alexa Gromen, also preceded William in death.

William was a member of the First Christian Church, was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Steubenville Plant with 43 years of service, where he was the water tender for the blast furnace and was the custodian for the First Christian Church for nine years.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Strother Pearce, whom he married April 17, 1954; son, William R. (Michele) Pearce of Clarksburg, WV; three daughters, Cynthia Ann (Conrad) Dobson of Steubenville, Susan Medley of Youngstown and Judy (Frank) Trepanoski of Steubenville; one sister, Kathy (Dennis) Vincent of Gahanna, OH; nine grand children; 10 great grand children.

William served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a member and past Master of the F&AM lodge No. 691, Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville, York Rite and past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 414.

Calling hours are Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville, where services will be held 11:30 a.m. Rev. Trina Morgan will officiate. Burial will follow at Ft. Steuben Burial Estates. There will be a Masonic service 7 p.m. Wednesday.
