The Richmond Community Historical Society held its annual Christmas dinner at the Crew House Museum on Dec. 9 with approximately 35 in attendance for the covered-dish feast.
The evening was occasion to honor Betty Hout with a plaque and gift in recognition of her years of service to the group as its outgoing treasurer; to review 2012 events and accomplishments; and to enjoy a holiday gathering that included impromptu entertainment courtesy of Mid Kinney's memorized storytelling. Donna Grimm gave the blessing.
"We had a good year," said Phil Judy, president of the society. Other officers are Don Swickard, vice president; Sandy Judy, secretary; and Becky Swickard assuming the duties of treasurer.

Improvements to the Crew House Museum on Main Street included painting and wallpaper in the stairway area and a reconfiguration of museum space with the elimination of an oversized display case.
The upstairs museum dedicated to all things Jefferson Union High School continues to grow and to be appreciated, according to Judy.
"The JU room is really coming along nice," he said, adding, "We are still accepting donations."
Groups that visited the museum during 2012 included members of the JUHS classes of 1958 and 1962 who made tours a part of their reunion celebrations.
The historical society held several concerts at the gazebo featuring the Sands of Time country music band.
On the 2013 calendar is a St. Patrick's Day dance on March 16 at the Glenn Mills Senior Community Center from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
"We are going to have some dances or music at the gazebo, but no dates have been set yet," he said.
The historical society is selling mugs for $12 and salt crocks for $20. The pottery items both have "Richmond, Ohio" on them.
They can be purchased by calling (740) 765-4534. All proceeds benefit the museum.
Meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. with annual dues set at $5. Anyone is welcome to attend.
