McMECHEN - The Steubenville Catholic Central boys basketball team rasied its record to 4-0 with a 68-54 victory at Bishop Donahue Saturday evening.

Zach Herrington led the way with a game-high 24 points. Ryan Fletcher added 16 and Michael Barber 10 as the Crusaders pulled away with a 44-27 margin in the second half.

The Crusaders came into the game fresh off a 67-59 overtime win at Conotton Valley on Friday, outscoring the hosts 15-7 in the extra session.

Fletcher led the way with 22 points. Herrington added 17 and Barber 12, including 4 for 4 from the line in the extra period.

Central outscored Conotton Valley 20-12 in the fourth period to force OT.

Red Knights beat Lady Royals

WEIRTON - The Toronto girls basketball team had four players in double figures Saturday afternoon and cruised to a 72-21 victory over Jefferson County Christian at the Millsop Community Center.

Malaysia Harrison scored 11 and Lexie Berger, Becca Schaming and Lindsey Bodar each added 10 for the Red Knights, who will host Wellsville on Wednesday.

Lani Moro paced the Lady Royals with 11. They visit Madonna on Saturday.

Bears lose at home

NEW MANCHESTER - Following a loss to cross-river rival East Liverpool on Friday night, the Oak Glen boys basketball team seemed to be running on empty during a 44-43 loss to visiting North Marion on Saturday.

"We were kind of lagging behind a little bit," Oak Glen coach Dave Smith said. "It was a tough turnaround for us. We had a tough first quarter. We fought back, but we just weren't on top of our game."

North Marion opened up a 17-12 lead after the opening quarter, but Oak Glen found itself trailing by just four points at the break and by six heading into the final frame.

Cody Howell netted a team-high 17 points for the second consecutive night and also added eight rebounds.

Matt McLaughlin connected on three from long range en route to a 15-point outing, while Taylor Kincaid netted seven points.

The Bears (1-3) will return to action on Tuesday at Steubenville Catholic Central.

Crusaders fall at home

STEUBENVILLE - The Conotton Valley girls basketball team outscored host Steubenville Catholic Central 12-8 in the fourth quarter to hang on for a 31-25 victory Saturday night.

Tori Knight scored seven points and Miranda Parkinson six for the Crusaders, who host Weir High on Monday.

Royals lose to Foxfire

WEIRTON - Despite 30 points from Matthew Townsend, the Jefferson County Christian boys basketball team dropped a 95-65 decision to Foxfire at the Millsop Community Center.

Wes Seabright added 20 for the Royals.
