Mains propels Redskins past the Panthers

RAYLAND - The Indian Creek girls basketball team picked up a 44-38 win despite leading scorer and rebounder Bre Berryman's abscence from the starting lineup.

Brooke Mains picked up the slack for the Redskins. The junior guard struck for 21 against her old school to lead all scorers. Kiarra Kamarec, Bethany Davis, and Jenna Callahan each scored six in support.

The Panthers were led by Kayla Fillipovich's nine points. Alexis Valuska added eight.

Indian Creek plays in the John Marshall Tournament Friday and Saturday while Buckeye Local is at Union Local Thursday.

Edison drops close one

ST. CLAIRSVILLE - The Edison girls basketball team lost 54-48 at St; Clairsville Monday.

Molly McCoy and Katelyn Pollock each scored 20 for the Wildcats.

Edison travels to Harrison Central Thursday.

MARTINS FERRY - The Harrison Central girls basketball team lost 54-37 to Martins Ferry Monday.

Katie Ellzy led the Huskies with 14 points. Shannon Compher added eight in support.

Royals grab third win

COLUMBIANA - The Jefferson County Christian girls basketball team raised its record to 3-2 with a 46-26 victory at Heartland Christian Monday.

Senior Lani Moro led the way with a game-high 16 points. Meadow Jackson added eight and Mary-Bernadatte Miravalle and Margie Kissinger five each.

The Lady Royals will host Toronto at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Millsop Community Center in a varsity-only game.
