Crusaders, Potters split
STRATTON - The Steubenville Catholic Central swim teams split with East Liverpool Tuesday at the Stratton Municipal pool. The girls earned a 63-25 victory, while the boys dropped a 60-28 decision to the Potters.
Moriah Vosteen, Erin Mulrooney, Elise Pergi and Maddie Gulan won the 200 medley relay in 2:12.84. Vosteen won the 200 freestyle (2:34.69), Pergie the 200 IM (2:52.53), Sammi Fornsaglio the 50 free (30.46), Mulrooney the 500 free (7:03.63), Gulan the 100 back (1:15.81) and Pergi, Fornsaglio, Derda and Vosteen captured the 200 free relay (2:05.90) and Gulan, Vosteen, Mulrooney and Derda the 400 free relay (4:46.62).
For the boys, Timmi Schlich won the 100 fly (1:11.12), Brian Thompson the 500 free (6:11.06), Jacob Arai the 100 back (1:10.81) and Arai, Noah Flored, Schlich and Thompson the 400 free relay (4:33.59).
Spartans win opener
BELLAIRE - The St. Joseph JV basketball team won its season opener over the homestanding Bellaire St. John's Junior Irish, 26-13. The Spartans were paced by Evan Boniti's eight points, while Dom Mazur and Jon Luke Horne added six points apiece.
