STEUBENVILLE - The same colorful, fanciful portrait of Steubenville area businesses and personalities that created such a buzz when it came out two months ago in map form is now available in a durable, 432-piece puzzle, just in time for holiday gift-giving.

The Steubenville Fun Map, which captured the likeness and personalities of more than 100 civic leaders, businesses and institutions in a 36-by-24-inch map, has been reproduced in jigsaw puzzle format, according to Cindy Kotsch, special projects director for the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times,

"The maps were such a hit and people liked them so much we decided to do a puzzle," Kotsch said. "It's perfect to give as a gift or for a puzzle enthusiast."

PUZZLE FUN — Maggie McGinnis, inside sales supervisor for the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times, shows off the Steubenville Fun Map puzzle that is now available. Limited quantities of the 432-piece puzzle are available for $19.95 plus tax. For information or to make a purchase, contact the Herald-Star at (740) 283-4711 or visit the newspaper offices at 401 Herald Square, Steubenville.

The original fun map, designed by local artist Lillian Brue, took a light-hearted, engaging approach to promoting local businesses and institutions while capturing the unique flavor of Steubenville - an "art imitates life" kind of community perspective.

The finished puzzle, which measures 18-by-24 inches, has that same irresistible appeal, Kotsch said.

"It's a great Christmas gift option for people who live in Steubenville or who have moved away," she said.

Kotsch said the heavy duty puzzle pieces are packaged in a decorative metal canister with the map on the front, complete with a snap-lock lid so the pieces can be securely tucked away when the puzzle isn't in use.

They're priced at $19.95 each, plus tax, but only a limited number are available. They can be purchased at the Herald-Star office while supplies last.

Brue is currently working on a Wintersville-Toronto area fun map, with others to follow.

For information about the puzzle, or to make a purchase, visit the Herald-Star offices at 401 Herald Square or call (740) 283-4711.
