STEUBENVILLE - Jefferson County Connections is hosting a unique job fair expo from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Fort Steuben Mall.

The event will focuses solely on current and near-term employment opportunities in the oil and gas industries throughout the Tri-State Area.

This is not designed to be your average job fair, according to the man planning the event, Mike McGlumphy of Jefferson County Connections.

It will focus solely on the needs of two key elements: businesses from within the region's oil and gas community with current job openings to fill, and those with known hiring needs anticipated for as early as the first part of next year.

"This is the first time we have put together a job fair or expo event focused on a single industry," explained McClumphy.

Attendance at this event is open to the general public, and those who plan to attend the expo as jobseekers do not need to register.

However, employer's wanting to have a presence at the job fair are asked to contact McGlumphy at the Steubenville office at (740) 282-0971 in order to have all set-up space and needs addressed.

The idea of putting all the elements necessary to make a job fair event successful in one room at one time is to help expedite and refine the process of helping local jobseekers not only find access to immediate or known quality job opportunities but to provide help they might need to turn job possibilities into very real job placements.

"I wanted to bring together in one event everything that could be needed to make these opportunities work for everyone," said McGlumphy.

"If a person is a good candidate to fill an opening in the gas and oil industry but might need some specific additional training or certifications, we will have schools of different types there to provide that access, we will have funding sources there, and the company representatives with very real job openings needing filled with qualified people."

Businesses wanting to participate in the event are asked to contact McGlumphy .

All schools, financial entities and potential employers taking part in the event will be listed on the job fair webpage at
