Christmas wishes to everyone

December 2, 2012
The Herald-Star

To the editor:

It's that time of year again for Christmas trees and lights and Christmas presents and manger scenes and Christmas cheer. December is also "atheist season," when they'll all come crawling out of the woodwork (even as far as Wisconsin), scared that they just might be wrong - what if there really is a God or Jessus or Hell?

I always remember the old saying, "There are no atheists in foxholes." If they are strict believers in evolution only, let them hand up their dinosaur bones and sea shells and put lights on them. It's my choice what to do. What's wrong with people being a little happier or more considerate than usual?

As I've said before, the problem is our cowardly hypocrites in Washington, D.C., who do everything for votes and tenure and money, but won't speak up and defend the rights of Christians for fear of losing votes. Isn't every session of the House and Senate opened with a prayer? (You can't get rid of these people when they are campaigning, but you can't reach them once they're in office.)

So, if you don't like my Christmas tree or manager scene, don't look at them. (How many times do we have to say this before it sinks in?) And if we don't want to look at your fossils, we'll just ignore than.

In closing, all you atheists must stop reading this now - Merry Christmas to all.

Sandy McLeish
