Betty Hayes

HAYES, Betty Jean (Baker), of Colliers, WV, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 26, 2012, at her residence.

Betty was born on March 28, 1927, in Salem, WV. She was the daughter of the late Ward and Lena (Davis) Baker.

Betty worked at Weirton Steel Corp. during the war as a tin plate sorter, but she was most known as being a prayerful and devoted pastor's wife. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Follansbee, where she taught Sunday school for over 40 years. Betty was a member of the Women Missionary Union.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. John Hayes; three brothers, Algia, Gale and Warren Baker; and two sisters, Rudy Porter and Luetta Grimm.

Betty is survived by two sisters, Barbara Saad of Estero, FL, and Virginia (Ginny) Jackson of Fort Myers, FL; two brothers, Garland Baker of Follansbee, WV, and Joe Baker of Chester, WV; 20 nieces and nephews and numerous great- nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends will be received on Thursday, November 29, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and again on Friday, November 30, 2012, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main St., Follansbee, WV, with the Rev. Timothy Colvin, officiating.

Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Weirton, WV.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 425 Rockdale Road, Follansbee, WV 26037
