From staff reports , The Herald-Star

CADIZ - The Cadiz Business Association, chaired by Kathy Mishler, has planned holiday events for Dec. 1.

Included is the parade along the downtown streets, with the lineup beginning at 5 p.m. and the parade promptly starting at 6 p.m.

The parade will include Snow Kings and Queens, with any child between the ages of 6 and 10 who is designated by a group or business which has a walking unit or float in the parade as their snow royalty. There is a limit of one per parade unit.

An entry form must be completed by an adult and the children will be part of Santa's Royal Snow Court at Wallace Lodge following the parade. They will be part of a group photo a well. Cash prizes will be awarded to the best float and best walking entry. Certificates will be presented to all high school marching bands which participate in the parade. Awards will be given for uptown and outlying business window decorations that evening.

Local businesses can participate by making a $50 sponsorship, which will be recognized on the decorated main stage. All proceeds will go toward parade costs and providing a small gift, punch and cookies for children who visit Santa after the parade. Deadline for inclusion on the main stage is Saturday.

Visitors will enjoy the drive through Christmas Card Lane while en route to meet Santa at Sally Buffalo Park. He will be greeting children at Wallace Lodge following the parade. Members of the Cadiz Lions will serve cocoa and hot dogs at the event.

Earlier in the day, the Lions will be serving a pancake breakfast at Wallace Lodge, where the fifth-annual Christmas shopping open house takes place, beginning at 9 a.m.

Entry forms for the parade are available at Huntington Bank. Deadline for the parade entries or stage participation is Saturday. For information contact Mishler at (740) 942-4664.
