Family day event a success

To the editor:

I would like to thank everyone who made a contribution, monetarily or in deed, to the Family Day and Teen Night fundraiser held Nov. 10 at Crossroads Christian Church. The day was a blast and money was raised to provide for group mission trips to send nearly 300 teens to our area this coming July for repair of more than 25 homes for the underprivileged.

Our plan was to open Crossroad's doors and our hearts to the community while offering a positive, safe, loving, friendly and interactive experience that glorifies God. That happened. From the joy of presenting monster trophies to contest winners, to the spectacle of 32 cornhole teams, free throw and 3-point shooting contests, fire trucks, paramedics, a K9 unit, bounce house, barbecue, the Mud Coffee Parlor, Upward/Group WorkCamps information, nearly four hours of awesome worship music and so on ... there truly was fun for all. The residual effects from this event will have an everlasting impact on many lives.

Thank you to our sponsors - Acuity Specialty Hospital Ohio Valley, Trinity Health System, the Herald-Star, Upward Sports, DeFelice Brothers Pizza, Hickory Lodge Catering, IBEW No. 246 and to all the tireless hours from our many volunteers. A special thank you to Wintersville Fire and Rescue for the fire truck and paramedic display and to Wintersville Police Department for sending its K9 unit. If I left someone out, I apologize. Once again, a heartfelt thank you to all who made this event a success.

Much love in Christ.
