Police called about gun incidents

STEUBENVILLE - City Police responded to several reports of shots fired or incidents involving guns during a several-hour period on Sunday.

Officers were called around 2:48 a.m. Sunday morning about a shot fired from a vehicle in an alley in the rear of Summit Avenue. Police reported a witness said a pickup truck with tinted windows fled down the alley after the shot was fired. Officers checked the area and couldn't find the pickup truck or any evidence of a shot being fired.

Officers were called around 10 a.m. Sunday to the 1300 block of Park Street about a shot being fired. A witness told police three black males in their late teens or early 20s were in a yard when one of the men pulled out a handgun and fired a shot down the alley. Police reported the three men then fled toward Rosswell Avenue. Officers again couldn't find any evidence of a shot being fired.

Police were called around 12:24 p.m. Sunday to Walgreens, 2001 Sunset Blvd., about a bullet being found. Police reported a person came into the store and told an employee they heard a loud bang outside. The employee went into the parking lot and found a bullet near the entrance, police reported.

Officers then were called around 4:40 p.m. to the 1400 block of Maryland Avenue about a juvenile with a handgun. A patrolman stopped a juvenile matching the description, who gave the cop a BB gun. The officer reported the gun was painted all black and resembled a real handgun. The juvenile was transported to a relative's house and the BB gun was confiscated, police reported.
