A ‘Grand’ Night of Fashion, Part II is Saturday night

November 12, 2012
The Herald-Star

The show is going on for the Grand Theater - in this case a fashion show.

And it's a "Grand Night for Holiday Fashion" that promises to unfold Saturday at the Center of Music and Art located at 264 Main St., Wintersville.

The second-annual event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. as a fundraiser to benefit the Grand Theater Restoration Project.

There will be 30 men, women and children models showcasing holiday fashions from Macy's, including yours truly, back again after the inaugural event last year. I liked my outfit so much I later bought it.

The fashions are compliments of Macy's with cosmetics compliments of Macy's and Elizabeth Arden.

In addition to fashions, there will be food, an auction, a 50-50 drawing and a cash donation bar.

Numerous silent auction items will be available such as vintage mutton fur jackets from Cooper & Kline, Denmark's and the Hub; Dale Earnhart memorabilia; and a "rock star wine basket" featuring Rolling Stones merlot, Pink Floyd cabernet, Grateful Dead red wine and Woodstock chardonnay.

Two Brothers Dry Cleaners also will provide coupons with Macy's offering discount coupons for all guests in attendance.

A special holiday train case from Elizabeth Arden will be available for preorder from Macy's.

Tickets are $25 per person and are on sale now at the Center of Music and Art as well as at Two Brothers Dry Cleaners, 606 N. Fourth St., Steubenville, and at Carinci Law Office in Steubenville.

They also will be available at the door.

The event is sponsored by Macy's, the Center of Music and Art, the Herald-Star, Team Automotive Group, WTOV 9, the Women's Club of Steubenville, Nelson Fine Arts & Crafts, Two Brothers Dry Cleaners and Froehlich's Classic Corner.

For information call (740) 632-2899 or (740) 284-8008.

"This event will be helping us reach our match requirement for the Ohio Clean Funds Grant to complete the cleanout of the Grand. Funds will also be used to pay our engineering firm," said Scott Dressel, president of the board of directors of the Grand Theater Restoration Project.

In addition to Dressel, the event committee, includes Francesca Carinci, Jan Glaub Rainbolt, Mark Nelson, Greg Froehlich, Tim McCoy, Ed Stanislaw, Beth Wood, Tony Corella and Donna Keagler along with assistance from board and event sponsors.

Another Grand Theater event to post on your calendar is happening on Dec. 8, which is a Saturday, the day of Steubenville's Christmas parade.

The Grand Theater Restoration Committee will host an open house that day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. so people can get a first-hand look at how far this project has come and all the changes that have happened so far in this downtown landmark.

The theater to date has had its roof replaced, and about 150 volunteers have hauled approximately 150,000 pounds of debris out of there.
