GEORGE, Calvin, 85, of Mechanicstown, passed away Wednesday evening October 24, 2012, in Canton following a brief illness.

A son of the late Ernest and Hazel Walters George, he was born May 24, 1927, in East Liverpool, Ohio.

Calvin was a retired farmer and held memberships as a charter member of the Fox Township Vol. Fire Department, 50 year board member of the REA (Carroll Electric Co-Op), board member of the former Carroll Landmark, member and former elder of Scroggsfield Presbyterian Church, and served as sexton of the Scroggsfield Cemetery.

Along with his wife, the former Myrle Clark, whom he married April 20, 1960, he is survived by a daughter, Ruth Ann (Kent) Caris of Amsterdam; stepdaughter, Connie Jo (Joe) Rohrer of Mechanicstown; five grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Carl.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 31, 2012, in the Scroggsfield Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Krankovich officiating. Burial will follow in the Scroggsfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
