Restaurant robbery

under investigation

WELLSBURG - The City Police's detectives division is investigating an armed robbery at a restaurant on Sunset Boulevard at about 12:13 a.m. Saturday.

Staff at the Pizza Hut reported two men entered through a rear entrance bearing guns and demanding money, according to reports.

The men fled through the same door. No other information was available.

School board

calls special meeting

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Board of Education will hold a special work session at 5 p.m. Tuesday to discuss the natural gas lease, teacher trips, school field trips, special education busing and other issues.

The meeting will be held at the board's office at 1201 Pleasant Ave.

Planning commission

has vacant seats

WELLSBURG - Individuals are needed to fill vacant seats on the Brooke County Planning Commission, which meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Brooke County Public Library.

The group currently is involved in updating the county's comprehensive plan, which suggests areas where commercial, residential and other development may occur.

Those interested in serving should submit a letter of interest to the Brooke County Commission care of the office of Brooke County Clerk Sylvia Benzo at the Brooke County Courthouse.
