STEUBENVILLE - Steven L. Hill, 21, of 105 Montwell Drive, Mingo Junction, was sentenced Tuesday to six months in Eastern Ohio Correction Center by Jefferson County Common Pleas Court Judge David Henderson after Hill pleaded guilty to aggravated assault involving an incident in which he admitted to stabbing his uncle.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department reported the altercation between Hill, and his uncle, Donnie Morris, 35, also of 105 Montwell Drive, Mingo Junction, began after Hill broke a switch to an ignition of a recreational vehicle on July 26.

Morris grabbed Hill by the head and Hill dared Morris to do it again, a deputy reported. Morris then kicked Hill in the head, the sheriff's department reported. Hill pulled out a pocketknife and stabbed Morris three times, a deputy reported.

Morris was taken by friends and family to Trinity Medical Center West, where he was interviewed by the sheriff's department. Deputies went to the home on Montwell Drive and arrested Hill.

Hill will be on probation for 18 months. He faces up to 28 months in prison if he violates probation.

Also, Aaron M. Liddick, 29, of 1333 N. River Ave., Toronto, was placed on probation for two years by Henderson after pleading guilty to two counts of drug trafficking.

Liddick also was fined $200. He faces up to 30 months in prison if he violates probation.

Stephanie L. Payne, 34, of 364 McLister Ave., Mingo Junction, was sentenced to 28 days in the county jail by Henderson after admitting to a probation violation.

Payne was sentenced in June to six months in the Eastern Ohio Correction Center after pleading guilty to passing bad checks. The Eastern Ohio Correction Center kicked her out of the program in September because of her behavior and lack of commitment to counseling.

Henderson placed Payne back on probation for one year. She faces up to 12 months in prison if she violates probation.
