Julie Vavra Daley, OVBPW president and event chairman, said the event is a fundraising effort for the BPW's annual scholarships as well as a way for local businesses to showcase their talent and their products.

"This is our first Wine, Women and Shoes event, and we're planning a great evening as we raise money to award three local scholarships. 'Wine, Women and Shoes' will give women a chance to sip and shop during the time before the fashion and accessories show. Our guests can sample wine and food from area wineries, and they can shop at our jewelry, purse and beauty tables," Daley said.

The event also will offer guests the chance to actually be in the fashion and accessories show. "We're inviting all of our guests to wear their most fabulous shoes, and at the end of the show, we'll award a Best in Shoe contest prize," Daley said, noting there will be several categories.

Judges for that will be special guests in attendance - state BPW representatives.

The Chinese auction table will include donations by the vendors and from additional local businesses. Auction tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

Event sponsors are Hess Corp. and Life Line Hospital.

Tickets for the event are $20 and are available in advance from any BPW member, at the door or by calling (740) 283-2531 or (330) 285-2684. VIP tables are available.

The OVBPW meets September through May on the third Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at Scaffidi's Restaurant. The meetings include dinner and guest speakers whose topics range from health care to customer service to financial issues.
