Blue Dons beaten by University

WEIRTON - The Madonna girls soccer team fell 2-0 on Senior Night to visiting University Tuesday.

Senior Amy Davis played a great game in net for the Lady Dons, recording 21 saves under constant Hawks' pressure.

Alex Mocyuans and Tara Meek scored the University goals. Both came in the second half as Davis was able to keep the game tied through the first half.

Madonna travels to Brooke Thursday.

Maroon Knights lance Crusaders

WHEELING - The Steubenville Catholic Central girls soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision on the road to Wheeling Central Tuesday.

Carly Abraham scored the Crusaders goal. Moriah Vosteen saved 12 shots in net.

Beth Stayduhar and Ashton Cross each had a goal and an assist. Bailey Clark added a goal as well. Regan Blaha had six saves.

Toronto falls to Irish

TORONTO - The Toronto volleyball team dropped a four set match to St. John Central 21-25, 25-20, 25-10, 25-17 Tuesday on a night they supported the fight against breast cancer.

"This is the first time so many girls just played flat," said Toronto head coach Chelsey Fletcher. "I really am not disappointed, they just played flat, the passes were off all night. They made great decisions and had great drive, but when a pass doesn't make it to the target it's going to be a rough night.

"We had a successful "Servin' up a Cure" event and raised nearly $800 over the course of the day and evening events. Thank you to all those who came and supported the event and to those who donated prizes and time."

Cari Horne had six kills and two digs, Taylor Linn six assists, Katie Spadafora three kills, Lisa Scalley had one block and one kill Chelsea Anderson two assists and two blocks for the Lady Knights.

Panthers lose to St. Clairsville

RAYLAND - The Buckeye Local volleyball team lost in five sets to St. Clairsville 25-18, 21-25, 28-26, 19-25, 15-12 Tuesday.

For the Panthers, Amy Balk had four kills and three assists and Becca Rector eight points, six kills, five digs and 15 assists. Kayla Fillipovich added eight points, 10 kills, and three blocks; Kaylee DeCesare 12 digs and three assists; Lex Fedorko four aces, four digs and four assists and Moe Fedorko had 11 points, three aces, three digs and five kills. Morgan Staten had nine points, 14 digs and nine kills; Preslie Renforth two points, 10 digs, and four assists; and Becky Zeroski delivered six points and two digs.

Royals sweep Warriors

WINTERSVILLE - The Jefferson County Christian volleyball team swept visiting American Spirit Academy 25-13, 25-10, 25-9 Tuesday at the Ryan Activity Center.

Lani Moro led the way with 11 points and 13 assists. Mary Bernadette Miravalle added 10 points, Theresa Recznik eight kills, Alyssa Beadle and Meadow Jackson seven kills each, Melanie Lewis nine points and Margie Kissinger five points.

The Royals (14-3) host Faith Baptist at 4 p.m. Thursday.

WEIRTON?- The Madonna volleyball team defeated Clay-Battelle 25-10, 25-20, 25-10 Tuesday.

For the Blue Dons (19-0), Nicolette Sellitti totaled 11 aces and seven kills, Dylan Fenske 15 assists and seven aces, Amanda Paul seven digs, Monica Bragg five kills and four blocks, Emily Pietranton six digs and five aces, Katie Kramer five digs and three aces, Gianna Anile three digs, Maddie Burchill three kills and Gabrielle Sellitti one kill.
