The Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club held business meetings in August and September to discuss a number of topics.

Officers and other positions approved for the 2012-13 season include Steve Whiting, president; Debra Snider, vice president; Judy Whiting, secretary; and Karen Tindor, treasurer.

Barb Momyer will remain the competition chair, assisted by Lynn Payne. Diane Bannister will continue as the media representative as well as coordinator of some club exhibits. The club trustees include Angela McClain, Andy Tindor and Don Roberts. Claudia Norris was nominated as a lifetime honorary trustee, having been one of the club's longest-term members.

Momyer collected suggestions from club members throughout August regarding competition topics for each month for the competition season, beginning in October and ending in July. At the September business meeting, members voted on the topics. The competition topics chosen for 2012-13 were October, love/friendship; November, things that fly; December, signs; January, frost; February, winter scenes; March, silhouettes; April, oxidation interpretation; May, historical; June, water; and July, bubbles.

At the recent business meetings, Andy Tindor collected pictures from members who had submissions representing scenic views of the four seasons of the year for the 2013 McBane Insurance calendar.

Bannister also collected pictures from members wanting to participate in the club's October exhibit at Mary H. Weir Public Library. The exhibit theme is "Colors of Autumn." Sam Rees is scouting a location for the club to go on a walk through Wheeling.

Bannister told the group that Mary H. Weir Library Director Rik Rekowski has invited the club to joint participation in offering a photo contest for the public. Whiting said the possibility will be discussed at a future meeting.

The August meeting was held at the home of members Lisa and Todd Carte. After the meeting, the Cartes treated the members to a wine-tasting as Todd Carte makes his own wines.

Upcoming events discussed were:

The club voted to hold the annual awards banquet, a covered-dish dinner, at the regular meeting place. A date will be announced. At the banquet, the "Photographers of the Year" in prints and slides will be recognized.
