REINARD, Ruth Ellen, 87, of Weirton, passed away in the Weirton Geriatric Center Sept. 28, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Born Sept. 23, 1925 in Holliday's Cove, WV, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth MacLaughlin McKenzie. She was also preceded in death by her brother Lloyd MacLaughlin.
Ruth Ellen was a clerk for the Army Air Force during her husband's service in the military and moved with him from base to base during his tenure in the service.
She enjoyed working with the servicemen and their families and being able to help them. She became an employee of the former Weirton General Hospital shortly after her return to Weirton and worked for 17 years before retiring. In her free time, Ruth Ellen enjoyed traveling all over the United States and spending time with her nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was den mother of Pack 32, a phone caller for 4 Seasons and the local AARP in Weirton. She enjoyed attending functions of the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center and meeting the people that were able to enjoy the rich and diverse culture of Weirton. She was a member of the Paris Presbyterian Church and the Wellsburg Chapter 23 Order of the Eastern Star.
Ruth is survived by her husband Richard Daniel Reinard, Sr. of Weirton, whom she married Dec. 6, 1943; sons Richard (Diane) Reinard and Timothy (Angela) Reinard; brother John (Norma) McKenzie; close friend Patty Reinard; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Funeral services will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1 at the Paris Presbyterian Church with Dr. Christina Hosler officiating. Interment will be in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA.
