Child suffers head injuries in wreck

WINTERSVILLE - A 2-year-old girl was flown by medical helicopter to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh following a roll-over crash on state Route 164 in Brush Creek Township, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

The patrol reported a car driven by Daniel Adkins, 28, of Salineville was traveling north on state Route 164 around 4 p.m. Wednesday when it went off the left side of the road, struck a guardrail and ditch and rolled over into a tree.

There were three children in the vehicle, an infant and children ages 2 and 5, the patrol reported. The infant, the 5-year old and Adkins were all transported to Trinity Medical Center West. An adult female passenger wasn't injured, the patrol reported.

Adkins was charged with failure to control. The patrol reported the accident remains under investigation.

Firefighters called to structure fire

WELLSBURG - Several area fire departments were called to a structure fire at 357 B Northview Road at 3:23 p.m. Wednesday.

Reports filed by the Wellsburg Fire Department said the fire at the brick one-story home of Floyd Taylor appeared to be electrical in nature, originated in the bedroom and spread through the attic and roof above it.

No one was home at the time. A passerby reported the blaze.

Firefighters from Franklin Community, Follansbee, Hooverson Heights and Bethany Pike also were on the scene.

Townhall meeting set in East Springfield

EAST SPRINGFIELD - A townhall meeting will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the East Springfield Community and Recreation Center on county Road 39.
