STEUBENVILLE - The Steubenville Big Red volleyball team claimed a four-set victory at Steubenville Catholic Central 19-25, 27-25, 25-17, 28-26 to prevent the Crusaders, who won the first regular season matchup, from claiming the city championship.
Big Red saw Abby Taylor contribute four points, three kills, 57 sets, nine assists and 18, digs with Taylor Young adding 13 points, six kills, 46 sets, six assists and nine digs.
Annie Nehrbas had a big game with 10 points, three kills, 10 blocks and two digs, while Mytia Barker shipped in with 12 points and 11 digs, and Carmie Biasi added 11 points and 33 digs.

Also contributing were Brittany Bodo 11 points, four kills and 13 digs, with Kayla Crites adding two kills and Quinchaya Thompson three blocks.
For Central, Rachel Antonelli had seven kills, four aces and five points, with Monica Rigaud adding 10 kills and 13 blocks and Rachel Rigaud four kills and nine blocks.
Monica Fischer had seven kills and three blocks, Jenna Ogden 60 sets and Robyn Runkel 74 sets, six assists and three aces.
Maddy Gulan played a big match with 11 kills, 12 blocks, two aces and 17 points, while Kamy Belardine added 27 digs and four points.
Redskins scalp Wildcats
RICHMOND - The Indian Creek volleyball team dropped the first set 25-13 on the road to Edison before winning the next three 25-23, 25-20, 25-18 to pick up the victory Tuesday.
The Redskins (12-2) received 10 digs, four blocks, and three kills from Whitney Martin; eight digs and two aces from Ali Collaros; and six blocks, six digs, five kills and two assists from Brey Mays.
Bre Berryman had 14 kills and four blocks; Kiarra Kamarec had 11 blocks; Alexis Fithen had five kills, four blocks and four digs; and Jessica Furda added 22 assists, eight digs, two blocks and two kills.
For the Wildcats, Kylie Smith had nine points, five digs and two kills, and Katie Davidson had eight assists, eight points, five kills and two digs. Hannah Johns added five points, two aces and two digs.
Katelyn Pollock had eight kills, four digs, four blocks and three points, with Caitlin Brenstuhl adding 22 assists, six points, six digs, three aces and two kills.
Alexis Gill had five kills and five blocks; Maddie Williamson three digs and Cassady Jarvis 13 points, seven kills, four blocks and three aces.
Harrison swept by St. Clairsville
CADIZ - The Harrison Central volleyball team lost to visiting St. Clairsville in three sets 25-18, 27-25, 25-19 Tuesday.
"We have our ups and downs, but we're continually improving each day," said Harrison Central head coach Amy Ferri.
The Huskies dropped a 25-17, 25-15, 25-9 decision to Bellaire on Monday.
Bruins fall to John Marshall
GLEN DALE - The Brooke volleyball team fell in three sets to John Marshall 25-23, 25-22, 25-16 Tuesday.
For Brooke (1-11), Sam Mazzone had five kills, four assists and six digs, while Brooke Murdoch had two points, two kills, six assists and three digs.
Amber Isinghood led the Bruins with 15 points, two kills, four aces and three digs, while Angela Staffileno added three points, five kills and four blocks.
Also contributing were Kourtney Leonard with five points, three kills and two blocks; Emily Stuck with two points and nine digs; and Isabella Preston with four points, three kills and two blocks.
Madonna sweeps tri-match
MORGANTOWN - The Madonna volleyball team is 15-0 after winning a tri-match Tuesday, defeating host Morgantown Trinity 21-25, 25-15, 25-14 and Clarksburg Notre Dame 25-8, 25-11.
In the two matches, Amanda Paul collected 11 digs, and Katie Kramer five aces and two digs. Dylan Fenske added 25 aces, six assists and four digs; Nicolette Sellitti seven aces and two kills; Maddie Burchill three aces and two digs; Emily Pietranton five digs; Monica Bragg four kills; Gabrielle Sellitti four digs and two aces; Chloe Connor one ace; and Gianna Anile three assists.
SUGARCREEK - Steubenville Catholic Central freshman golfer Austin Meronoff shot 80 Tuesday at the Division III Sectional Golf Tournament at Willandale Golf Club, and that was good enough to advance to Tuesday's district tournament at Cumberland Trail Golf Course.
The Crusaders shot 349 to finish fourth, seven shots behind Malvern. The top three teams qualified for the district tournament.
Mike Manfresca shot 85, Jason Bensur 88, Josh Merriman 96 and Nick Ivkovich 97 for Catholic Central, which finished the season at 63-25.
Panthers seeking coach
RAYLAND - Buckeye Local High School is looking for its third baseball coach in three years. According to Panthers Athletic Director Sam Jones, the applicant must have three years of varsity baseball coaching experience, possess a valid CPR and first aid card, have completed the OHSAA Fundamentals of Coaching Class, passed a BCI/FBI background check and have a current pupil activity permit.
