WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Board of Education will offer adult education courses, including preparation for the exam required to obtain the equivalent of a diploma and hunter education required for a state hunting license, beginning next week.
Except for the GED and hunter education courses, which are free, the courses require a $50 fee.
The GED class is held at the Brooke County Public Library. All others are held at Brooke High School.
Most are nine weeks and must have at least 10 people register or they will be canceled. Pre-registration isn't required for the hunter education class, which will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 16-18.
The following courses are on the schedule:
Adult basic education for GED preparation, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays or 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays.
Internet Skills, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays.
Microsoft Office, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays.
Sewing/quilting, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays. Materials are required.
Crocheting/knitting, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays. Materials are required.
Fundamentals of machining, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays. Materials are required.
Home maintenance and repair, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays.
Cabinet making, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays.
Junior permits through the hunter education course are available for 8- and 9-year-old participants. Permanent permits are available for ages 12 and up. Participants 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent.
