Making the pledge

September 20, 2012
The Herald-Star
Abby Taylor, left, and Brooke Sutherland, 11th-graders at Steubenville High School, took the pledge Wednesday to not text and drive as part of a school assembly encouraging teenagers to be wise with cell phones in vehicles. The It Can Wait campaign, spearheaded by AT&T, included speakers encouraging students to not mix texting and driving, including representatives from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the AAA Club, state Rep. Jack Cera, D-Bellaire, and state Sen. Lou Gentile, D-Steubenville. Students also watched “The Last Text,” a film on the dangers of texting while driving during the assembly. - Mark Miller
