Bears sweep Potters, Red Riders

EAST LIVERPOOL - The Oak Glen volleyball team defeated East Liverpool and Weir in a tri-match Tuesday at Potter Fieldhouse.

The Golden Bears defeated the Red Riders in two games, and beat the Potters, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19.

"It felt good to get a couple of wins after last night," Oak Glen head coach Ethel Riser said. "It still wasn't pretty, but we still did win."

East Liverpool defeated Weir, 25-13, 25-11.

The Golden Bears are 15-2 on the season.

For Oak Glen against Weir, Sydney Kell collected five points, 30 sets and eight assists; Vanessa Hissam added seven kills and two blocks; and Morgan Poling produced nine points, two kills and five blocks.

Lacee Porter recorded nine points and three kills; Abby Tice tallied one spike and nine digs; and Jessica Stivason ended up with one kill and one block.

Caitlyn Smith contributed four points and five digs; Carissa Williams chipped in with five points, five sets and one assist; and Madison Juszczak delivered three kills and three blocks.

Against East Liverpool, Kell tallied 11 points, 54 sets, eight assists and two kills; Hissam scored five points to go along with seven kills; and Poling picked up one point, two kills and three blocks.

Porter produced three points, 15 kills and two blocks; Tice ended up with two kills and 32 digs; and Stivason netted six kills and three blocks.

Smith finished with eight points and six digs; Williams collected six points, 41 sets and eight assists; and Juszczak recorded three kills.

Oak Glen plays Monday at Wheeling Park.

Dons still perfect

WHEELING?- The Madonna volleyball team is 11-0 after a 25-20, 25-12, 24-26, 25-18 victory at Wheeling Central Tuesday.

Amanda Paul finished with 21 digs, Gabriella Anile one dig; Monica Bragg four kills and two digs; Emily Pietranton nine digs; and Maddie Burchill five digs.

Gabrielle Selitti added four digs, Dylan Fenske six aces, nine assists and five digs; Nicolette Sellitti six kills and six aces; Katie Kramer five digs and Gianna Anile one dig.

Redskins down Bears

UNIONPORT - The Indian Creek golf team, behind the 40 of medalist Cole Yeater, defeated Oak Glen, 182-210, Monday at Red Oaks Golf Course.

Rounding out the Redskins' scoring was Adam Freshwater's 46, Justin Dailey's 47 and Ian McIntosh's 49.

For the Golden Bears, Taylor Kincaid and Matt McLaughlin each shot 50, Hayley Spurlock 53 and Jacob Stipec 57.

Central adds a game

STEUBENVILLE - The Steubenville Catholic Central girls soccer team will host Parkersburg South at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
