STEUBENVILLE - Anytime Fitness of Steubenville will conduct a fun physical fitness camp at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jim Wood Park to raise funds toward the United Way of Jefferson County's 2013 campaign.
"Sweat United" will be led by professional personal trainer Eric Henson of Anytime, and he's promising a workout geared toward all fitness levels. The trainers and other staff from the fitness club will assist.
"We want to help people get healthy, and if that can be combined with helping the agencies and organizations that help others through the United Way of Jefferson County, it's a win-win," said Paul Giannamore, manager of the city's only 24-hour gym, located in the Hollywood City Center.
To participate in the 45-minute exercise event, individuals must raise pledges or donate at least $25. Teramana Enterprises, which owns the Hollywood shopping plaza, will provide a match to contributions.
All participants will receive a T-shirt and a free pass to use Anytime Fitness. Prizes for the top fundraiser and the most spirited participant will be awarded, including donations from Kroger, Weight Watchers and Aubrey's Bakery.
Completed pledge forms will be gathered at the event.
The event will include a fun walking lap of the park's track, backwards for those who can do it, as an "Anti 5K."
"We're all about showing that physical fitness is a matter of health for everyone and that means people of all fitness levels. We know that there are many fantastic people who run 5K races year round in our area to raise money for a variety of charities. We just want to emphasize in a fun way that everybody can do their part, physically and in raising funds, no matter their fitness level," Giannamore said.
