The United Way of Jefferson County’s Jazz in the Garden held Thursday was occasion to celebrate Jefferson Society members for their support and leadership and to applaud the induction of the eighth class of the Jefferson Society Hall of Fame, with surprise awards presented to three individuals who have “gone the extra mile for the United Way,” according to Christine Hargrave, 2012 Hall of Fame coordinator and awards presenter. Inducted were Ross Gallabrese, president of the United Way of Jefferson County’s board of directors, for his leadership; Sunny Sunseri, whose jazz group has brought “harmony and easy listening” to the event through the years; and Todd Piergallini of Piergallini’s Catering for his event cuisine. Derek and Lisa Ferguson of Wintersville served as hosts of the event where remarks were given by Gallabrese; Anita Jackson, Jefferson Society chair and event coordinator; and Anthony Mougianis, 2013 campaign chair. Some of those on hand were, from left, Jackson, Mougianis, Gallabrese, Hargrave, Sunseri and Ame Taggart, interim director of the United Way of Jefferson County. - Janice R. Kiaski
