WEEKLY, Keith Laird, 73, of Marietta, GA, died September 8, 2012 of complications from bone cancer.
He was born on April 16, 1939 in East Liverpool, Ohio to the late Okie Weekly and Violet Bixler. He grew up in Weirton, WV; graduated from Follansbee High School; then spent a year at Green Brier Military Academy in Lewisberg, WV on a basketball scholarship.
He went on to attend Georgia Institute of Technology on another basketball scholarship and played varsity basketball from 1959-1964 until he graduated with an Industrial Management degree. He retired from Lockheed-Martin Corp. after 32 years of service. He volunteered with the Boy's Club and coached the 7th & 8th grade basketball teams at McEachern High School for many years while also coaching girls' softball for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Pat) Oliver Weekly; two daughters, Patricia (Trish) Weekly and Adrian (Adie) Weekly McCabe and husband Paul of Marietta and his granddaughter "The precious light of his eyes" Kendall McCabe.
The memorial service and reception will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation, located at 1673 Jamerson Rd, Marietta, GA 30066, where he was a member. Those wishing to honor Keith's memory may do so by making donations to the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation (ECA), designated for the Memorial Fund.
