STEUBENVILLE -- City Council approved a new three year contract with City Manager Cathy Davison Tuesday night during a brief special regular council meeting.
The council and Davison reached a tentative agreement on the new contract last week that saw Davison maintain her current salary and benefits.
City Law Director S. Gary Repella said the council has not yet made a decision on legal action regarding the unofficial city logo and a challenge by the Freedom From Religion Foundation of Madison, Wisconsin.
During the sunshine council meeting Third Ward Councilman Greg Metcalf proposed several ordinances including authorization for Davison to apply for grants from the Ohio Public Works Commission for improvements to John Scott Highway and Mall Drive as well the Brady Avenue and University Boulevard resurfacing improvement project.
Metcalf also proposed an ordinance designating the city manager to execute the Brady Avenue and University Boulevard upgrade.
Sixth Ward Councilman David Lalich introduced a resolution accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the budget commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the county auditor.
And Fourth Ward Councilwoman introduced a resolution to declare September Recovery awareness Month in the city.
