The Urban Mission Scholarship Committee recently met to review applications for the Robert E. Hutton Memorial Scholarship with four chosen to receive $500 scholarships.
The awardees were: Michael Mastromichalis, a 2012 graduate of Weir High School with a 4.06 grade point average who will attend Ohio State University to pursue a major in aerospace engineering; Rachel Richard, a 2012 graduate of Brooke High School with a 3.61 GPA who plans to attend West Virginia University to pursue a major in engineering and potentially petroleum engineering; McCall Sims, a 2012 graduate of Indian Creek High School with a 3.82 GPA who plans to attend Kent State University and pursue a major in the public health field and eventually attend medical school; and Lisa Thomas, an adult returning student who is attending Eastern Gateway Community College with a 3.92 GPA and plans to continue her education at EGCC to receive her LPN, then her RN license and eventually transfer to work for the Veterans Administration.
