Library programs are announced

The following programs of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County have been announced:

-- Play and Learn the Alphabet for caregiver and children ages 2-6 will be held at the Main Library today at 5:30 p.m.

-- There will be a movie at the Adena branch on Saturday at 1 p.m.; at the Brilliant branch on Thursday at 5 p.m.; and at the Tiltonsville branch on Saturday at 11 a.m.

-- Every Child Ready to Read 2 workshops for adults will show participants how they can help develop important language and literacy skills. Workshops will be held at the Schiappa branch on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon and on Aug. 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Participants will receive five free books. To register and for information, call the library at (740) 264-6166.

The program is supported in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, as administered by the State Library of Ohio.

-- Babygarten for parent and children ages birth to 24 months will be held at the Tiltonsville branch at 11 a.m. Thursday. Nursery rhymes, songs and books will be shared at this lap-sit program.
