Adena Lions plan

scramble, picnic

The Adena Lions Club participated in the village's Fourth of July parade with a float and made plans to check for damage to flags to be displayed in Adena and Harrisville.

Club members will erect new ones where needed in both areas with the damaged flags to be given to the Adena American Legion for proper disposal.

Members approved working with the annual Heritage Day events Aug. 11 and will meet in the near future to elect a new lion tamer.

Darrin Young presided at the July meeting. Nancy Walker, secretary, put up a new banner for the club awards.

The first Lions Golf Scramble will be held Sept. 22 at Castle Shannon, beginning at 9 a.m.

The club family picnic will be held at Bedway Park Aug. 8 for members and their families.

Young commended R.J. Konkoleski for his work as past district governor and Dennis Kinsey for his leadership in the club as president.

Young reported there was a good showing of Lion members at the funeral home for Theo Kanoski, club member, and spoke about him being missed in future minstrels and for the work he did as well.

The club received a Lions patch for sponsoring the Shadyside Lions Club.

The next meeting will be at the LaPizza in Adena, where a spaghetti dinner will be served.
