A number of children rode the Spirit of America train operated by engineer Wayne Davies of Adena on Saturday evening during the fourth annual Mingo block party sponsored by the Mingo Business Association. Jim Freiling of the organization said a large crowd attended the Friday events in downtown Mingo Junction and the rain showers Saturday only slightly dampened the enthusiasm of the participants. The Saturday events included pony rides, the Kahuna Balloona and the sale of special T-shirts. -- Dave Gossett
