Valley Pastors Network details basis for special meeting Aug. 7

July 28, 2012
The Herald-Star

Pastors associated with the Valley Pastors Network, who meet monthly, say they have have noticed that the Valley has been challenged by an epidemic of crime and substance abuse.

They met with Steubenville's police chief and city manager to open the door for dialogue and believe the dialogue needs to continue, but the circle of pastoral connection needs to be extended "because this big problem needs unity and connectedness within the spiritual army," according to a news release from the Valley Pastors Network.

To pursue that agenda, a dessert fellowship for area ministers will be held at Froehlich's Classic Corner at 7 p.m. on Aug. 7. The purpose of the informal meeting is to encourage relationships within the spiritual leadership community in Steubenville and the surrounding areas by providing both an opportunity to become acquainted with one another and to strengthen existing relationships, according to the news release.

The pastors said they "realize that there is diversity and uniqueness within the Valley churches, and those need not be changed, but we can join together in prayer and support as we come against the negative forces within our community."

All pastors are welcome to attend.

The Valley Pastors Network meets regularly at 9 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month at Starkdale Presbyterian Church. Area pastors also are welcome to join in these regular meetings.
