The Women In Action Against Cancer Coalition members met July 11 for their monthly luncheon meeting at Manfred's with Judy Manfred, president, presiding.
Members shared personal stories of encouragement to have mammograms done; provided information about triple negative breast cancer; and posed a suggestion that each monthly birthdays be used as a breast cancer awareness platform.
Jean Lamatrice, treasurer, reported that 77 bikers participated in the recent poker run which raised twice as much as last year's event.
The group is selling 50-50 drawing tickets in advance and also at the Pam Shoemaker "Paying It Forward" Foundation's second-annual golf classic and fundraiser on Saturday at Spring Hills Golf Course in East Springfield with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. WIAACC and the foundation are joining forces for the event.
Linda Bain reported that 100 women have been serviced, and Sharon Kirtdoll reported approximately 30 men were treated.
In June, four youth had a lemonade stand where they raised $25 for the coalition, a gesture coalition members applauded.
The group's indoor flea market held at Harmony United Methodist Church in Mingo was hailed a success.
