Dinner to raise

funds for roof

The Brilliant Christian Church will be holding a chicken dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 28 to raise funds for a new roof.

The location is at Walters South 4, just north of the old drive-in on old state Route 7 in Rayland. Signs will be posted.

Missionary union

members meet

The Women's Missionary Union of Open Door Baptist Church on Route 1, Colliers, had six members in attendance at its July 3 meeting.

President Mildred Richter presided at the gathering where Katherine Wise led in prayer.

A report was given by Donna Garrison. Money was collected for the three missions the WMU supports. A letter from missionary Betty McGregor was read.

A thank-you note was received from Mary Ann Kimball.

Flashlights presented on Father's Day were appreciated, Richter reported.

Members prepared a package to send to serviceman Jerod Holden.

The church picnic will be held Aug. 12 at Brooke Hills Park with the worship service at 11 a.m.

Readings were given by Rosemary Jennings.

The next meeting will be held Aug. 7. Tammy Moffo will be the hostess.

Church to hold

Polish Fest

Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church will hold its annual Polish Fest from noon to 8 p.m. July 29 at the Serbian Picnic Grounds, Kings Creek Road, Weirton.

An outdoor Polka Mass at noon with music led by Tom Zielinsky and the SHM Choir will kick off the festivities.

The event will feature homemade Polish food, a cash bar, games and drawings throughout the day. Live entertainment will be provided by Zielinsky on the accordion from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the Ohio Valley Connection from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

of golf scramble

St. Joseph Holy Name Society of Tiltonsville is sponsoring a four-man golf scramble on Aug. 18 at the Fairway River Links in Rayland.

There will be a 7 a.m. shotgun start. A hole sponsorship is $25.

There is a $50 entry fee per person which includes the cart. There will be food, refreshments, trophies, prizes and drawings. Participants can sign up at the golf course or call (740) 859-9304.

Free dinner at

Jewett UMC

A free dinner will be held at the Jewett United Methodist Church from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Tuesday as part of its Olive Branch Program.

The menu will include picnic foods and an ice cream social with Awesome Possum performing from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Ark.

The church is located at 202 W. Main and Rumley streets in Jewett.

St. Peter's group

sponsoring trip

St. Peter's Bereavement/CWC will sponsor a bus trip to Seven Springs Fall Festival/Lenox Outlet on Oct. 14.

The cost of the trip and buffet is $45.

Meeting planned at Empire church

The P.O.W Intercessory Prayer Ministry is sponsoring a Habitation of God's Glory meeting at 7 p.m. July 27 at the River Christian Fellowship Church, 183 Nessley St., Empire.

Participants are invited "to experience the presence of the Lord through worship, preaching and the Holy Spirit."

There will be special prayers offered with praise and worship led by Leanne Headley and prophetic dance by Rachel Vilano.
