Fort alive with music

Rick Hicks directed the Tri-State Community Band as it played American patriotic songs at the Louis and Sandra Berkman Amphitheater July 5 with about 300 people enjoying the music during the event.

Also performing were the Chrisagis brothers of Yorkville.

The 2012 concert series will continue today at 6:30 p.m. with the 97th Regiment String Band playing music from the Civil War era.

WSX 25-Year Club

picnic Saturday

The Weirton Steel 25-Year Club will hold its annual picnic from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Serbian Picnic Grounds located on Kings Creek Road. Anyone employed for 25 years at National Steel, Weirton Steel, ISG or Mittel can attend.

New officers will be elected at 11:30 a.m., and lunch will be served at noon. The club meets the first Wednesday of each month from October to July at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Chuch on West Street, Weirton.
