To the editor:
I feel the time has come for the Jefferson County Commissioners to have a public meeting to explain to the more than 7,500 county water customers why they are so persistent in taking over the Smithfield water system and probably adding more than $1 million of new debt to the present system.
I feel that at this meeting they should also listen to the input from the present members of the system who have faithfully paid their water bills and supported the system for many years.
