Jerome R. ‘Bud’ Hughes

HUGHES, Jerome R. "Bud," 84, of Steubenville, (Pottery Addition) Ohio, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012, at his home.

Bud was born July 11, 1927, in Toronto, Ohio, son of the late Lawrence J. and Nellie G. Hashman Hughes.

Bud was retired with 36 years of service from the former Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel Corp., Mingo Junction BOF Plant. He was Methodist by faith, a member of Toronto American Legion Post 86, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Bud served his country during W.W. II and the Korean War in the U.S. Navy.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his brother, Benjamin Hughes and by his sister, Norma J. Ossio.

Surviving are two nephews, Roy A. (Buddy) Ossio and Benjamin R. Ossio both of Steubenville; three nieces, Frances E. Brownfield of Steubenville, Sherry L. McKelvey of Salineville, Ohio and Joan E. Ossio of Wellsburg, WV; his great-aunt, Gladys Roush of N. Fort Myers, FL; four great-nieces and nephews, Jeremy D. Hughes, Jennifer A. Hughes, Melissa A. Ossio Elliott, Amy L. Ossio; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to attend Bud's committal service on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel in Union Cemetery in Steubenville.

The family will be present from 10 a.m. up until time of the service at 10:30 a.m. Pastor John Westling will provide the committal service for Bud.

Toronto American Legion Post 86 will provide full Military Honors following the committal Service.

Bud's family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Toronto American Legion, PO Box 56, Toronto, OH 43964.

Arrangements are in the care of J. E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc., 701 Findley St., Toronto, Ohio.
