Area residents are still feeling the effects of Friday's storm.
Across the state, American Electric Power of Ohio reported 573,000 customers in its service territory without power last Saturday.
Locally, AEP indicated about 700 power customers in Jefferson County were still without power Saturday evening. Service restoration is expected by Monday, dependent on the weather.
Spokesperson Jennah Nelson advises residents to check AEP's website at www.aepohio.com for the latest information if internet access is available.
"Hang tight. We have all of our crews working and everything should be restored within a five-to-seven-day period if nothing else severe happens," said Nelson.
She said AEP crews are working 16-hour shifts in an attempt to expedite the restoration process.
"We're urging residents to be extremely cautious around all downed power lines. We are also asking residents to check on all affected family, elderly neighbors, etc., if possible," said Nelson.
AEP is currently working on compiling shelter information for affected areas, and that will also be listed on the website, according to Nelson.
But power problems are just one issue residents are facing.
The Jefferson County Water and Sewer Department issued a statement that said residents living on or near the following areas and roadways may have experienced or may experience a loss of water due to Friday's storm and power outages: "Area A" locations including Keeper Road, Washington Road, Porter Road, Tarr Hill, state Route 151, the village of New Alexandria, Georges Run, Buckingham Ridge Road, Plum Run, all township roads off of state Route 151, Santucci Road and Graham Road; "Piney Fork Area" locations including county Roads 11 and 152A, township Roads 138, 134 and 153 and state Route 152; "Area GI" locations, including Jackson Heights, Grandview Heights, state Route 150, township Road 111, county Road 14, county Road 1 and Glen Robbins; and "Area GII" locations including county Roads 4, 14, 15, 16 and 17.
They are asking customers with water to conserve until further notice, as crews are aware of the problem and are working to restore services.
